Humanizing Addiction

"Humanizing Addiction" is a series of sculptural objects commenting on the link between mental illness and substance abuse. Many individuals with subtance abuse problems often have an underlying mental illness that they are medicating through drug use. The prescription bags in this project comment on that self-medication by trying to humanize the individual they relate to. Each bag contains a photograph, diary entries, and their drug of choice.
